MLB Trade Rumors: Latest Info on Potential Last-Minute Deals Before Deadline
Whether teams have been discussing a trade for months or negotiations just picked up a few hours ago, there is only a short time left to complete a deal before the MLB trade deadline.
After 4 p.m. ET Friday, teams will no longer be able to complete a trade without going through waivers. This clearly raises the pressure for those desperate to make one final addition for their playoff push, which means you will likely see some huge offers as time expires.
We don't yet know which deals will be completed in time, but here is a look at the latest buzz from around the league.

Orioles Interested in Parra

The Baltimore Orioles have had some rough patches this season, but they are still not giving up on the year just yet. General manager Dan Duquette explained earlier in the week he is focused on improving for this season, per Dan Connolly of theย Baltimore Sun:
One major area of need for the Orioles is at corner outfield, where the team has struggled to replace the production of Nelson Cruz and Nick Markakis from last season. Fortunately, this is exactly the spot the team is looking to improve.
According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Baltimore has a specific player in mind:
Of course, he also explains the price continues to rise for the talented hitter:
Gerardo Parraโwho is expected to take over the center field role for the Milwaukee Brewers in place of the departed Carlos Gomezโis in the midst of a career year. He has always been known as an above-average defender and is now showing he can get it done at the plate as well. The fact he is currently in the midst of a 14-game hitting streak will only raise the cost.
Still, the Orioles could end up desperate at the 11th hour. With the way the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays have hit the ball this year, it will be a challenge to keep up offensively in the American League East without some sort of move.
If they truly want to contend this season likeย Duquette said, this might be the only way.
Yovani Gallardo on Market

Despiteย reportedly acquiring Cole Hamels, the Texas Rangers don't consider themselves legitimate contenders for this season. Hamels is signed through 2019, so the team is thinking long term with that deal.
On the contrary, Texas is still willing to sell a player who is not part of the future, such as pitcher Yovani Gallardo. Despite a rough start against the Yankees Thursday, the impending free agent has a lot of value on the open market.
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports provided the long list of teams interested in the 29-year-old starter:
"Yovani Gallardo, who started Thursday night against theย Yankees, is being pursued by at least five teams, with theย Cubs,ย Blue Jaysย andย Dodgersย seen as the most aggressive parties to this point.ย
The Yankees, who have sudden pitching issues, andย Giantsย are two more teams in the mix.
Theย Rangers, who are hoping to announce their bigย Cole Hamelsย deal Thursday night, are nonetheless realistic about their chances this year, which is why Gallardo may be moved.
"
It might be strange to see both the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers on the list after each completed big-time moves for starting pitching on Thursday, but Jon Morosi of Fox Sports reported both teams are still on the hunt for improvements:
Considering the Blue Jays have had by far the best offense in baseball this season andย recently added David Price, as reported by Jon Heyman, any more acquisitions could make this a scary club.ย
That said, any team looking to trade for Gallardo will have to make sure his recent struggles aren't a concern. After building up a 2.62 ERA in his first 19 starts, he has now allowed five runs in each of the last three games. Without any more chances to impress before the trade deadline, the Rangers might have to settle for less than they hoped.
White Sox Back to Buyers

Although the Chicago White Sox snapped their seven-game winning streak Thursday night, the run still completely transformed their season outlook. It might be too hard to catch the Kansas City Royals, but the wild card remains up for grabs.
As a result, the team is no longer looking to trade off pieces like Jeff Samardzija and others. Instead, Chicago is searching for ways to improve the inconsistent offense.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today noted the team's aggressiveness to add a hitter:
Heyman added another potential target:
Both Yoenis Cespedes and Justin Upton would make sense for the White Sox. Each would provide some much-needed power to the outfield that has struggled for much of the year until recently. Either player would also help balance the lineup by adding a right-handed bat to a team that has struggled against left-handed pitchers.
Most importantly, both targets are set to be free agents at the end of the season and won't tie up much financially going forward.ย
The White Sox could easily just ride out this hot streak and let the team do whatever it was going to do, but the recent success shows greatness is possible. With one more big bat, this group could definitely make a run at the playoffs.ย
