Travis Kelce Says New Heights is 'The Only Company That Employs Me Right Now'

Scott PolacekJan 7, 2026

Travis Kelce's contract with the Kansas City Chiefs expired at the end of the 2025 season, so he had some fun with the retirement rumors circulating him on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast.

"This is the only company that employs me right now," he told his brother and co-host Jason (1:05 mark).

Kelce did get more serious on the topic of retirement later in the show, although he was rather vague with his answer.

Kelce said he plans on "just being a regular human for a couple weeks, maybe a month or so, trying to figure out what I'm gonna do next in terms of my future in football," (9:20 mark). "And I think, you know, I've talked to a few people in the facility already, you know, having the exit meetings and everything, and they know where I stand at least right now."

The future Hall of Famer also left the door open for a potential return.

"At the same time, if my body can heal up and rest up and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18, 20, 21-week run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat," Kelce said.

Whether the 2025 campaign was Kelce's final one was a topic of discussion around the Chiefs throughout the season. While the year didn't go as according to plan for the AFC West team that lost quarterback Patrick Mahomes to injury and missed the playoffs, the star tight end further cemented his place in NFL history.

He became the fastest tight end to reach 13,000 career receiving yards and also passed Terrell Owens for eighth in NFL history in receptions.

Kelce's resume includes three Super Bowl titles, four First-Team All-Pro nods and 11 Pro Bowl selections. He is one of the best tight ends in the sport's history and will forever be a Kansas City legend whether he returns for the 2026 season or not.

It just seems like fans are going to have to wait for some time before he makes that decision.
