'Greatness,' Dak Prescott Predicts His Future Despite Cowboys Missing NFL Playoffs

Doric SamJan 5, 2026

Despite missing the playoffs for the second straight season, Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott is remaining optimistic about what's in store for him in the future.

While speaking go reporters after losing to the New York Giants in Sunday's season finale, Prescott had a bold response when asked what's ahead for him.

"Greatness," he said, per ESPN's Todd Archer. "I'll work every day and bust my ass in the gym, in the way that I take care of my body, throwing on the field, to do everything that I can. I don't expect any different than this past year and that's to be better than I was this year. I think over my career, the track record somewhat proves that. For me, it's just continuing to work. I don't know if there's many that work as hard as me or as intentional as me. And so I pride myself in that and I look forward to getting back to that here."

Prescott played briefly on Sunday and threw for 70 yards before being relieved by Joe Milton III before the Cowboys suffered a 34-17 loss to finish the season with a 7-9-1 record.

Despite the disappointing year for Dallas, Prescott remained one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. He ranked third in the league with 4,552 passing yards and fourth with 30 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.

Prescott is under contract until 2028 following his record-setting extension in 2024, so he will have a lot of time to try to turn things around for the Cowboys.

Still, it's safe to say that the massive fan base in Dallas isn't happy with another year out of the playoffs, so it will be interesting to see how the team retools around Prescott in hopes of contending next year.
