Giants Reportedly Eye Charlie Weis Jr. to Coach Jaxson Dart amid Kiffin, LSU Contract

The New York Giants have reportedly been connected to Ole Miss and LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. as a possibility on the team's next coaching staff due to his work with current Big Blue rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

The 32-year-old Weis was Ole Miss' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2022-2025. Dart started for Ole Miss from 2022-2024 and excelled before the Giants selected him 25th overall in the 2025 draft.

Weis is set to leave town and follow head coach Lane Kiffin to become LSU's OC. He is still hanging around Oxford through the remainder of Ole Miss' College Football Playoff run. The Rebels' next stop is Thursday against Miami in the Fiesta Bowl for the CFP semifinals.

The Giants, meanwhile, are in the market for a new head coach after firing Brian Daboll in November following a 2-8 start (20-40-1 overall).

Obviously, it's unclear which direction the Giants go at head coach. Weis could be an interesting addition to the staff, but in reality, Big Blue's new choice could have his own ideas. For example, perhaps the eventual coach is an offensive-minded leader who has his own offense and wants to bring in his own personnel below him.

Still, Weis would be an interesting choice, simply because it's imperative for the Giants to invest in their young and talented quarterback and give him all the resources and people he needs to succeed. Big Blue went 4-13 this year to cap a 13-38 three-season stretch. That desperately needs to change, but Dart can absolutely be the person to lead New York out of the doldrums.

Dart shined at Ole Miss over three years, throwing for 10,617 yards (9.2 yards per attempt) and 72 touchdowns while adding 1,498 rushing yards and 12 more scores.

He can certainly benefit from Weis' tutelage again. To make clear, though, Weis has agreed to a three-year, $7.5 million contract with LSU, and all signs point to him leaving Oxford for Baton Rouge when this CFP run is over.
