Brian Daboll's NFL Future Discussed by Insider, Top Landing Spots for Former Giants HC
Brian Daboll's time as the New York Giants' head coach ended in November after three-and-a-half seasons, but he may not have to wait long to get back into the NFL as an offensive coordinator, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
"A veteran name that's on the radar, too: former Giants coach Brian Daboll," Russini reported Saturday. "Many around the league expect Daboll to land an offensive coordinator job."
The 50-year-old Daboll has been an offensive coordinator in the NFL for eight seasons with the Cleveland Browns (2009-2010), Miami Dolphins (2011), Kansas City Chiefs (2012) and Buffalo Bills (2018-2021). He was also an OC for national champion Alabama in 2017.

The Chiefs could be a landing spot that makes sense. Current OC Matt Nagy's contract is up after the season, and it's possible his time in KC is up, perhaps for a head coaching gig, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
"With offensive coordinator Matt Nagy's contract up, several scenarios are in play -- including Nagy getting a head coaching job. He'll be among the top candidates, a rare one this cycle with experience and a background on offense. If he doesn't get a head job, leaving to take over as a primary play-caller elsewhere is also possible."
Staying in the division, the 2-14 Las Vegas Raiders appear headed for a complete coaching reset even though Pete Carroll is in his first season, per Rapoport and Pelissero:
"Signs are pointing toward another reset in Las Vegas, where Pete Carroll's status is very much in doubt. It would be, at this point, a major surprise if Carroll returns for a second season."
The Raiders already made a change at OC earlier this year, with Carroll parting ways with Chip Kelly and putting Greg Olson in interim leader of the unit.
In addition, it's possible the Seattle Seahawks could be looking for a new offensive coordinator. Klint Kubiak, who runs the No. 2 scoring offense in football, may be in line for head coaching gigs, per The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
Daboll's stint with the Bills ultimately led to him getting the Giants gig. His start in Buffalo coincided with the beginning of Josh Allen's NFL career. Allen, of course, is now the reigning NFL MVP and one of the league's best players year-to-year.
The Bills have made the playoffs seven straight season in part because of Daboll's work with the offense. In his final two years in town, Buffalo finished second in scoring (2020) and then third (2021).
Daboll then left for the Giants. New York found great success in year one (9-7-1) and even won a playoff game for the first time since 2011. However, the Giants backslid to 6-11 and then 3-14. A 2-8 start led to Daboll's firing this year.
Given his experience and track record, especially in Buffalo, Daboll shouldn't be out of work for long.
