Lamar Jackson Rumors on Ravens Contract Extension Talks, QB's Future Amid Buzz
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has two seasons left on a five-year, $260 million extension. That contract has a $74.5 million cap number for both the 2026 and 2027 seasons. A total of $29 million in guaranteed money is left on the contract, and it's due in 2026.
A contract extension would certainly ease that burden and allow the team to spread the cap hit over future years.
With all that in mind, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler provided the latest on Jackson's future in Baltimore on Saturday.

"This one has to come to a head, folks, because of the $75 million cap hit he's got on the books in 2026," Fowler said. "His guaranteed money is drying out soon, so they have had some talks. There's been some discussions, there's been some leaks about whether [head coach John Harbaugh's] happy with Lamar Jackson, all that fun stuff that you sometimes see with a negotiation. When I talk to people in and around the situation, what's clear is the Ravens do know life is better with Lamar Jackson than it is without.
"He gives them a chance at every single game he's in. Do they have to manage the situation sometimes? Does he miss a lot of practice time throughout the course of months and years, yes, but they feel like they can handle that, but everybody's gonna have a price, so this will be interesting this offseason. Maybe the most under-played story right now will be what happens in Baltimore with his contract over the next six months."
Jackson and the Ravens have a de-facto AFC North title game on Sunday at the Pittsburgh Steelers. The winner takes the division and the AFC's No. 4 playoff seed, and the loser's season is over.
This has been a tough year for Jackson, who has missed four games due to injury, including a back injury that kept him out in Week 17. His numbers have gone down a bit in 2025, although as Fowler noted, Jackson gives his team a chance in every game. The Ravens are 76-30 in his starts and have made the playoffs in five of his first seven seasons.
It would make a lot of sense for the Ravens to sit down with Jackson and figure out a contract extension, especially with those cap numbers approaching. Jackson will turn 29 years old on Jan. 7.
For now, the Ravens are trying to complete a comeback after starting the season 1-5. The Steelers opened the door last Sunday when they lost to the Cleveland Browns, letting the Ravens control their own destiny.
Kickoff on Sunday is set for 8:20 p.m. ET at Acrisure Stadium.
