The veteran cornerback posted a video on social media that starts with him being drafted in 2020, followed by clips of his six years in Dallas.

The Cowboys announced on Tuesday that Diggs had been waived prior to their season finale.

The move came just two years after Diggs signed a five-year, $97 million extension with the Cowboys. His deal came following back-to-back Pro Bowl selections.

There had been rumblings indicating some sort of disconnect between Diggs and the organization. He told reporters on Dec. 12 that he was "ready" to return after missing two months due to injuries.

Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said on Dec. 10 that Diggs had "to show us he's ready to do everything the right way" before getting back on the field.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Schottenheimer and Diggs had a disagreement after a Christmas Day win over the Washington Commanders because Diggs wanted to remain in the D.C. area for the holiday where his family lives.

"Schotty denied the request," Schultz wrote. "Diggs again said he wanted to be with his family and that if he went back to Dallas, he'd just be flying right back on the first flight out, especially with players having several days off. The team vehemently denied his request again."

Diggs is eligible to be claimed on waivers right now, but that would leave an acquiring team on the hook for the remainder of his contract.

If Diggs clears waivers, he will be eligible to sign with any team and could be of interest to a club that needs cornerback depth going into the postseason.

At his best, Diggs was one of the best ball-hawk defensive backs in the NFL. He was named to the All-Pro first team in 2021 after leading the league with 11 interceptions in 16 starts.

The Cowboys originally selected Diggs in the second round of the 2020 draft. He appeared in 66 games over six seasons with the club.
