What is Trevon Diggs' Injury Status for Cowboys vs. Vikings After 2-Month Absence?

Julia StumbaughDec 12, 2025

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is ready to make his comeback from a two-month injury absence, but he needs to get his team's approval to do so.

Diggs told reporters Friday that he expects to play during Sunday's Week 15 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

"I'm ready," Diggs said.

The Cowboys will decide Saturday whether Diggs will be made available for the game, EVP Stephen Jones said on a Friday appearance on 105.3 The Fan.

When asked if he was certain Diggs would return this season, Jones answered, "Yeah, I feel like he will. Obviously, there's a certain standard that Coach Schottenheimer and his staff are looking at with him.

"Certainly, for him to play the type of defense we want him to play, and play the corner position the way we want him to play it, he needs to be out there practicing, which he has been."

Diggs last played Oct. 12. He suffered a concussion in a home accident Oct. 16, then was listed with a right knee injury when he was placed on injured reserve Oct. 25.

He has been listed as a limited participant at Cowboys practice in the days leading up to Week 15.

The Cowboys opened Diggs' 21-day practice window on Nov. 30, at which point team owner Jerry Jones said he expected the cornerback to return for Week 14 "barring the unexpected."

Diggs was ultimately ruled out on the Cowboys' final injury report ahead of last Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions.

The cornerback told reporters Friday he felt like he could have played against the Lions but that he "didn't get a lot of practice reps" leading up to Week 14, per ESPN's Todd Archer.

"But I feel like I got reps this week, got a lot of practice here and, yeah, good week," Diggs said, per Archer.

When asked Wednesday what Diggs needed to do to get back on the field, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters, "He's still in the ramp-up period. He does feel healthy, I know he wants to play, but at the end of the day, we have to do what we think is in the best interest of not just him, but also the football team.

"When you miss time, the ramp-up period is good not just for your body, but for your mind, and figuring out some of the defense. And there's some new faces in the huddle, and things like that. So, again, love him as a player, but ultimately he's got to show us he's ready to do everything the right way."

Diggs is running out of time to play this season. The Cowboys need to move him back to the active roster by Dec. 20, the day before a Week 16 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, or place him on season-ending IR.

The Cowboys also have a decision coming up regarding the team's future with Diggs, who has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract after 2025. The cornerback told reporters Friday he "of course" wants to stay in Dallas, per DallasCowboys.com's Patrik Walker.
