How Much Money Will Steelers' DK Metcalf Lose in Suspension for Hitting Fan on Video?

Pittsburgh Steelers wideout DK Metcalf received his punishment for hitting a Detroit Lions fan in a viral video from Sunday's game, and his bank account is taking a hit as well.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Monday that the league is suspending Metcalf for two games without pay for physically confronting the fan. As CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones noted, Metcalf will lose $277,777 per game he misses, so he's set to lose out on approximately $555,554.

Of course, things could get even worse for Metcalf as a result of the suspension. According to Jones, the punishment could automatically void more than $45 million worth of guarantees in his contract.

Pelissero noted that Metcalf plans to appeal his suspension.

Metcalf was shown on the CBS broadcast grabbing the fan by the collar as he hung over the railing and forcefully shoving him back.

"He came over because the fan in the stands was holding a '4' Pittsburgh jersey, he went over, and the fan said something to him," CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson said on the broadcast, per ESPN's Brooke Pryor. "Obviously, Metcalf did not like what he said, and you saw the swipe there. No Steelers came over to him and mentioned anything."

The fan identified himself as Ryan Kennedy from Pinckney, Michigan.

Metcalf finished with four catches for 42 yards in Sunday's 29-24 win over the Lions. He left the Steelers' locker room without talking to reporters.

Pittsburgh (9-6) will face the Cleveland Browns (3-12) and Baltimore Ravens (7-8) over the final two weeks of the regular season. If Metcalf's suspension is upheld, the Steelers will be hoping he will be motivated once he returns to the field if they make the playoffs.
