Latest Ketel Marte Trade Rumors Involving Red Sox After Willson Contreras Deal
The Boston Red Sox reportedly are out on Ketel Marte after making a trade on Sunday.
Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Red Sox are "expected to end trade talks" with the Arizona Diamondbacks regarding Marte. The report comes after Boston traded for St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Willson Contreras, whom the Red Sox will now owe $33.5 million.
As of last week, Boston was reported to be the frontrunner to land Marte, though WEEI's Rob Bradford also noted that there was "nothing close" in terms of a deal.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
While the Red Sox were seemingly the favorite if Arizona pursued a trade, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal pointed out that there is a "scenario" where the D-Backs keep Marte while also signing coveted free agent Alex Bregman.
With the Red Sox no longer interested, the Diamondbacks could try to take that route, though Rosenthal noted that keeping Marte and landing Bregman feels "unrealistic" right now.
Marte, who earned his third All-Star nod last year, is coming off a season in which he hit .283 this past season with 28 homers, 72 RBI, 87 runs and a .893 OPS.
