WWE News on Dom Mysterio's Injury After Spot from Father Rey at AAA Event on Video

WWE double champion Dominik Mysterio will be sidelined indefinitely after suffering a shoulder injury on Dec. 20.

Mysterio, who holds the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the AAA Mega Championship, was featured in the main event of AAA Guerra de Titanes in Guadalajara, Mexico, in a tag team match alongside El Grande Americano against Rey Fenix and his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. When the elder Mysterio reversed a suplex attempt into a DDT (2:40:00 mark), Dominik appeared to suffer a shoulder injury.

Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline confirmed that the 28-year-old could barely use his arm after the match and had to undergo further evaluation to determine if his injury would require surgery.

"Dom injured his shoulder taking the DDT from his dad near the end of tonight's main event," Alvarez reported (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News). "Based on how he landed, my presumption is it's likely a shoulder separation, which, depending on the severity, could be a short-term injury, or worst-case scenario surgery. But we won't know anything until he gets evaluated. He could barely use the arm at all."

Dom Mysterio and El Grande Americano were on the losing end of the match after Penta interfered and allowed Rey Mysterio to hit the 619 and score the pin over his son. The Judgment Day star clutched his shoulder as he walked out of the arena alone.

Unfortunately for WWE fans, Dom Mysterio—who has risen to become one of the top heels in the company—will be out for the foreseeable future.
