Hurts finished with 185 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 22-of-30 attempts. He connected with DeVonta Smith for a touchdown in the first quarter, continuing their strong on-field chemistry. Barkley contributed on the ground, adding a rushing touchdown and 132 yards to help salt the game away in the second half.
Following the win, fans flooded social media to celebrate Philadelphia clinching the division. Some expressed optimism about the Eagles' chances of making a run toward back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, while others remained more cautious.
In the loss, Marcus Mariota struggled, finishing with 95 yards on 7-of-14 passing without a touchdown before exiting with a hand injury. Josh Johnson entered the game in relief and threw for 43 yards and an interception.
The Eagles controlled the game statistically, outpacing the Commanders 26 to 15 in first downs while converting 4-of-9 third-down attempts while holding Washington to just 2-of-10. Philadelphia also held a significant edge in total offense, out-gaining Washington by 165 yards.
Washington led 10-7 at halftime after Philadelphia endured a sloppy first half, fumbling the opening kickoff and missing two field-goal attempts in the second quarter.
Philadelphia flipped the game in the third quarter with a touchdown and a forced interception, taking a 14–10 lead into the fourth.
The Eagles will look ahead to a tough Week 17 road matchup against the Buffalo Bills before closing out the regular season at home against Washington.
