NFL Rumors on Andy Reid's Future as Chiefs HC After Elimination from Playoff Picture
There are many questions for the Kansas City Chiefs to solve in the offseason after missing the playoffs for the first time since 2014, but Andy Reid's status as head coach is not among them.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Reid won't be fired by the Chiefs, nor is he looking to step down.
"He'll be back," one person close to Reid told Rapoport and Pelissero.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
There has never been a huge groundswell around the idea of Reid getting fired, despite the Chiefs' struggles this season.
Reid's age has been something people have kept an eye on regarding his long-term future. He is currently the second-oldest active head coach at 67 years old, behind only Pete Carroll of the Las Vegas Raiders (74).
Among the many criticisms that have been levied against the Chiefs this season, one of the big ones is about how the offense has gotten too stale and one-dimensional.
It's convenient when you have Patrick Mahomes at quarterback to rely heavily on the passing game, but it would help him out if they could do anything on the ground.
The combination of a simplistic run design and limited talent at running back has resulted in the Chiefs not having an effective ground game. They attempted to add Breece Hall in a trade with the New York Jets prior to the Nov. 4 deadline, but they didn't want to meet New York's asking price.
Mahomes' status for the start of next season is up in the air after he tore his ACL in the fourth quarter of Kansas City's Week 16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
While Mahomes' availability is the most important issue for the Chiefs going into 2026, they do have a full offseason to do a reset and fix some of the things that didn't go right this year.
Reid seems like a safe bet to be part of any decisions the Chiefs are going to make. He is on the brink of finishing his 13th season with the organization, putting up a record of 149-61 with three Super Bowl titles on his resume.
