Aaron Glenn's Job Security as Jets HC Revealed in Latest NFL Rumors Amid Struggles
Despite being on their way to a last-place finish in the AFC East, the New York Jets aren't planning to move on from Aaron Glenn after his first season is complete.
Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the "one-and-done" scenario for Glenn has never been a consideration for the Jets because the organization knew entering this season they were in for a multiyear rebuild and they want to establish "a foundation and culture," while "trusting Glenn's long-term plan."
Glenn's first season with the Jets has been a mess, in ways that were both predictable and unexpected. They didn't really try to find a long-term solution at quarterback in the offseason, betting on Justin Fields to be a capable stop-gap option.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The idea of Fields as the engine of a competent offense wasn't a bad one, but it never came together for him this season. He had four games with fewer than 60 yards passing in his nine starts before getting benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor.
Jets owner Woody Johnson publicly criticized Fields for his struggles earlier in the season.
One thing that Glenn, who comes from a defensive background as a former cornerback and defensive coordinator, has not been able to do is at least maintain the level of defensive play that the Jets had under Robert Saleh.
New York is currently ranked 30th in points allowed per game. The team did trade arguably its two best defensive players in Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams prior to the Nov. 4 deadline, but the unit was a mess even before those moves.
Glenn also fired defensive coordinator Steve Wilks on Monday one day after the Jets gave up 48 points to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
There was a lot of optimism about Glenn's ability to be a quality head coach in the NFL during his time as defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions. He was voted as the top coordinator—offense or defense—in the league in an NFLPA survey conducted during the 2023 season.
Things haven't gone the way anybody hoped for Glenn in New York this season. There aren't even many obvious building blocks for the franchise. Will McDonald, Garrett Wilson and Armand Membou stand out, but that's about it for a team that has picked in the top 15 of every draft since 2017.
Glenn and the Jets (3-11) have three games remaining this season before starting an offseason in which they need to fix a lot of things to become a competitive team in 2026.
