Thea Hail shockingly beat Blake Monroe for the NXT Women's North American Championship on Tuesday night, but that reportedly wasn't supposed to happen.

According to Fightful Select (h/t H Jenkins of Ringside News), Monroe was originally supposed to retain the title, so Hail winning led to some backstage scrambling and changes to creative plans for the coming weeks.

Late in the match, Hail hit a springboard move off the ropes, landing on Monroe. She simultaneously caught Monroe in a pinning combination, and the referee counted to three.

It appeared as though Monroe attempted to get her shoulder up, but she was unable to do so until the three count had already been made.

Per PWInsider.com (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News), Monroe had the wind knocked out of her on the move, which contributed to her being unable to kick out.

Later in the night, Hail celebrated her win during a backstage interview, and she was congratulated by Jordynne Grace.

At that point, Monroe approached them, accused the referee of cheating her out of the win and demanded a rematch.

If the title change was indeed never supposed to happen, it shouldn't be too difficult of a pivot for WWE to run a rematch between Blake and Thea with Monroe winning back the championship in short order.

Raquel Rodriguez Reportedly Placed in Concussion Protocol

Following her Women's World Championship match against Stephanie Vaquer on Monday night's episode of Raw, Raquel Rodriguez reportedly required some medical evaluation.

According to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Carrier), Rodriguez was placed in concussion protocol after hitting her head during a spot where she was shoved into the ring stairs.

In a promo posted on WWE's social media accounts, Rodriguez revealed that she had a massive goose egg on her forehead as a result of the spot.

Alvarez noted that despite the goose egg and the report that she was placed in concussion protocol, it doesn't necessarily mean that Raquel actually suffered a concussion.

However, Rodriguez reportedly did get checked out in an effort to determine whether a head injury occurred.

The match between Rodriguez and Vaquer did not have a clear winner due to the fact that WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella interfered and attacked both of them.

Nikki was out for revenge after losing a title match to Vaquer and after Raquel took her out one week earlier on Raw.

Given the finish, it seems likely that Raquel will get another shot at the title if and when she is cleared to compete, but Bella may be a factor in the championship scene as well.

Dupri Reportedly Receiving Praise Within WWE

Maxxine Dupri has reportedly been receiving high marks backstage in WWE for her improvement and new presentation.

According to Fightful Select (h/t Jenkins), Dupri has received positive feedback as she continues to develop, and an anonymous WWE male talent told Fightful that multiple people within the company were happy to see both Dupri and Natalya getting some shine.

It became clear in October that Dupri was on the rise when she had what was by far the best match of her career against Becky Lynch on an episode of Raw.

Maxxine got another shot at Lynch and the Women's Intercontinental Championship on the Nov. 17 edition of Raw, and she shockingly won the title thanks to a distraction provided by AJ Lee.

After her win, Dupri told Raw general manager Adam Pearce she needed to take some time away to train before defending the title, leading to the airing of black and white vignettes showing Maxxine getting put to the test by Natalya.

That led to a title defense on Monday's episode of Raw, and Dupri was victorious over Ivy Nile in an impressive effort.

There is no question that Dupri has evolved and come into her own over the past couple of months, taking her from something of an afterthought in the women's division to a legitimately solid performer.
