Fernando Llorente to Sevilla: Latest Transfer Details, Reaction and More

Sevilla officially completed a transfer for Juventus' Fernando Llorente on Thursday, finding a replacement for last year's top striker, Carlos Bacca, before the end of the summer transfer window.

Sevilla confirmed the deal on Twitter, as translated by AS:

Having fallen down the pecking order in Turin, the Spanish international will be hoping to rekindle his career in Spain. The player himself posted the following farewell message on his Twitter feed:

The Europa League winners lost Bacca to AC Milan earlier in the window, and while Kevin Gameiro has done an admirable job as a starter this season, the Frenchman is a more natural fit off the bench.

Llorente now returns to his native La Liga, which OptaJose illustrated as a particularly strong hunting ground for the striker in terms of headed goals:

After managing just nine goals in 45 outings last season, the forward has a long way to go before restoring his reputation as one of Europe's hottest strikers.

Sevilla will have to play to his strengths; Juve were never a prolific crossing side. If they do, Llorente can lead the line and enhance the talents of others around him. He's terrific at holding up the ball and an underrated technician inside the box, creating plenty of space for others.

After a tumultuous spell in Turin, the Spaniard should be hungry to prove himself at Sevilla. Provided he gets the requisite minutes on the field and service he thrives on, Llorente is a player who could enjoy a late flourish to a career that hasn’t quite scaled the heights many expected.
