Predictions for John Cena vs. Gunther and WWE Saturday Night's Main Event Match Card
This weekend will bring another edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event to our screens, but this will be a bit more special than most episodes.
This will mark John Cena's final match as he looks to wrap up his in-ring career. After going through three opponents in a tournament, Gunther earned the right to be his last opponent.
WWE has also booked a few NXT stars to appear on the show. Sol Ruca will take on Bayley, Oba Femi will battle Cody Rhodes, and TNA's Leon Slater will team up with Je'Von Evans to challenge AJ Styles and Dragon Lee for the World Tag Team Championships.
Let's take a look at each match and attempt to make some predictions.
Sol Ruca vs. Bayley
1 of 4
Ruca getting a singles match against Bayley on this SNME is a big opportunity for her, and she is going to make the most of it like she does with every opportunity she is given.
This week, Ruca made up with Zaria and asked her to be in her corner for this bout, so one of two things is going to happen.
This match is either going to end with Bayley putting over the up-and-coming talent, or it will end with Zaria turning on Ruca and costing her the win.
While Bayley seems like the type who would prefer to give Ruca the spotlight, the story WWE is telling seems destined to end with Ruca and Zaria fighting, likely at New Year's Evil.
Prediction: Zaria turns on Ruca and Bayley wins
AJ Styles and Dragon Lee vs. Leon Slater and Je'Von Evans
2 of 4
All four of the men in this match are known as incredible high-flyers, so this could end up being the most entertaining match of the night.
While it would be awesome to see Evans and Slater shock the world and win the tag titles, it's probably not going to happen.
When it comes to the TNA and WWE relationship, we have only seen WWE stars winning TNA titles, so Slater becoming a main roster tag team champion seems unlikely.
This will be a great showing for the two young stars, but Styles and Lee will retain in the end.
Prediction: Styles and Lee retain the titles
Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi
3 of 4
Femi regained the NXT title from Ricky Saints last weekend at Deadline, which means he also earned the right to face Rhodes on Saturday.
Neither man's title will be on the line, so this is simply going to be a battle of pride. With that being said, there is a very real possibility that Femi gets the win.
Rhodes is embroiled in a feud with Drew McIntyre right now. The Scottish Psychopath is currently suspended, but that hasn't stopped him from getting involved in Rhodes' business.
We're going to go out on a limb and say that McIntyre costs Rhodes the match, giving Femi a win and paving the way for Rhodes to fight McIntyre for the WWE Championship.
Prediction: Femi wins due to interference from McIntyre
John Cena vs. Gunther
4 of 4
This is it. This is what the last year has been building toward. Saturday night, Cena will step into the ring for what could very well be his final match.
Gunther took some time off following his loss to CM Punk at SummerSlam, but he returned when the Last Time is Now tournament kicked off and earned the right to be Cena's last opponent.
The Ring General is a great choice for this spot because he is the kind of wrestler who can get the best possible match out of Cena. Their styles will complement each other well, so this bout might exceed expectations.
While it wouldn't be totally surprising to see Cena win, he seems determined to put people over on his way out like he did with Dominik Mysterio recently.
Gunther is going to get the win and Cena is going to take one last bow before riding off into the sunset to continue his film career.
Prediction: Gunther defeats Cena
