Yankees Don't Have 'Open Blank Checkbook' for MLB Free Agency Contracts, Cashman Says
The New York Yankees were once known as MLB's biggest spender, but that has changed drastically over the past few years.
While discussing the Yankees' approach to free agency, general manager Brian Cashman told reporters that the team doesn't have "an open blank checkbook" when pursuing high-priced players.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
The Yankees have not won a World Series since 2009, which came after the high-profile signings of Hall of Fame pitcher CC Sabathia and star first basemen Mark Teixeira, among other offseason moves.
Rather than breaking the bank, New York has adopted a new strategy in recent years of building its roster through its farm system and through trades.
However, the team has lost out on its pursuit of multiple big-name free agents, most recently failing to convince star outfielder Juan Soto to continue wearing Pinstripes before he decided to head crosstown to the New York Mets.
It sounds like the Yankees' approach won't change this offseason, so it won't be a surprise if fans grow restless when another team spends more to land a coveted free agent.
