Will Red Sox Land Ketel Marte? MLB Insider Updates Trade Chances amid Blue Jays Rumors
The Boston Red Sox are reportedly considered to be one of top potential landing spots for Arizona Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte on the trade market.
According to MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the Red Sox are "viewed as stronger candidates" to trade for Marte compared to the Toronto Blue Jays due to the MLB-ready pitchers that they can offer.
Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported Tuesday that the Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners were interested in Marte, while the Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies were "possibly" in the mix.

The three-time All-Star is still under contract with the Diamondbacks through 2030 and holds a player option for the 2031 season after agreeing to a six-year extension worth $116.5 million with Arizona in April.
Marte's deal contains a no-trade list of five teams, but he'll earn the ability to veto any swap in April 2026 after compiling 10 years of MLB service time and five consecutive seasons with the same team (via Spotrac).
For Arizona, it could choose to move him for the best possible offer before he'll have the opportunity to decide where he can potentially get traded.
The Diamondbacks' desire to add pitching help is understandable, as Corbin Burnes, A.J. Puk and Justin Martinez are all recovering from their respective Tommy John surgeries.
Meanwhile, Marte should provide a boost to whichever lineup he appears on next season. He earned his third All-Star nod in 2025, hitting .283 with 28 home runs, 28 doubles and 72 RBI while posting an OPS of .893.
The Red Sox are looking to build upon an encouraging 2025 campaign in which they finished with an 89-73 record and advanced to the postseason for the first time since 2021.
