Kyle Schwarber is returning to play for the United States in the World Baseball Classic.

Position Players: Kyle Schwarber, Gunnar Henderson, Will Smith, Aaron Judge, Brice Turang, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Corbin Carroll, Bobby Witt Jr., Cal Raleigh
Pitchers: Paul Skenes
Schwarber, Smith and Witt are currently the only players returning from the 2023 WBC.
If the timeline follows the same one from three years ago, the full Team USA roster will be unveiled at some point in mid-January.
Adding Schwarber's bat to the lineup is a huge win for the United States. He's coming off an incredible 2025 season with the Philadelphia Phillies in which he finished second in NL MVP voting after hitting .240/.365/.563 and a career-high 56 homers.
During the 2023 tournament, Schwarber had the third-highest OPS on the American squad (1.093). He hit two homers in five games, including a game-tying solo shot off Yu Darvish in the eighth inning of the memorable title game against Japan.
The additions of Henderson and Turang gives Team USA manager Mark DeRosa a lot of flexibility with his middle infield. Witt seems likely to be the starter at shortstop over Henderson, but the Baltimore Orioles star could slot in at second base if DeRosa wants to use Turang off the bench.
When you combine the new players with the previously-announced group that includes Aaron Judge, Cal Raleigh and Corbin Carroll, it's hard to see how any other lineup can compete with the U.S.
But we know from the 2023 tournament that the right pitching staff can shut down the American offense.
The two runs scored against Japan in the championship game were the fewest for the United States in the WBC since 2017 semifinal, also against Japan. America won that game 2-1 en route to winning the title.
Team USA will begin the 2026 WBC against Brazil on March 6 at Daikin Park in Houston.
