Lamar Jackson Injured, Updates on Ravens QB's Timeline to Return Amid NFL Playoff Race

Andrew PetersDec 24, 2025

Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson is considered day-to-day after suffering a "significant contusion" during Sunday's 28-24 loss to the New England Patriots, coach John Harbaugh told reporters on Monday.

However, Jackson missed practice on Wednesday, causing uncertainty about his availability for Saturday's game against the Green Bay Packers.

Harbaugh had told reporters Sunday after the game that Jackson had a bruise and wasn't sure what the quarterback's status would be moving forward.

Jackson told reporters after the game that he will receive an MRI on Monday and "the goal" is to play on Saturday, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

"I gave myself up, and I got kneed in the back," Jackson added, per Hensely. "I can't finish the game with my guys. It's BS."

Jackson was ruled out for the remainder of the game late in the third quarter. The Ravens originally announced during the first half that Jackson was questionable to return with a back injury. He exited the game after being tackled and went to the locker room.

Baltimore dropped to 7-8 on the season with the loss, meaning the team must now win its final two games and have the Pittsburgh Steelers lose their final two games to win the AFC North and reach the playoffs.

The Ravens and Steelers will meet in Pittsburgh in Week 18.

Jackson hasn't had the best 2025 campaign after his MVP-caliber season a year ago. Through 11 games, he's thrown for 2,210 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions, adding 333 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

The two-time MVP has dealt with injuries after avoiding missing time over the last two years. He suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs and proceeded to miss three games before returning in Week 9. The Ravens went 1-2 during the stretch that Jackson missed.

Jackson missed a practice ahead of Baltimore's Week 11 matchup against the Cleveland Browns because of a knee injury. He managed to play in the win over the Browns but struggled, throwing for 193 yards and a pair of interceptions on 14-of-25 passing.

Jackson was then limited in practice before the Ravens' Week 14 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he was ultimately able to play.

When Jackson exited the game, the Ravens turned to backup Tyler Huntley. Huntley has seen limited action this season, but served as a solid fill-in when Jackson was out with the hamstring injury earlier this year.

Now, Baltimore will have to see if Jackson is able to recover in time to face the Packers at Lambeau Field on Saturday. If not, Huntley will have to try to keep the Ravens in the playoff mix.
