MLB Free Agents 2025 Rumors and Predictions for Top Available Players
Pete Alonso, Alex Bregman, and Kyle Tucker have made headlines this offseason as three of the highest profile, most coveted free agents available and that is unlikely to change until they put pen to paper with the team with whom they will continue their careers.

Pete Alonso Landing Spots

Will The Polar Bear return to Queens or play elsewhere in 2025?
Pete Alonso will make headlines until he finally signs his next contract and according to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, his two most likely landing spots are the Mets and the Boston Red Sox.
Boston could move on from Masataka Yoshida at the designated hitter position and if so, that would leave a huge void that Alonso would fit perfectly, especially as the Red Sox look for a power bat for their lineup.
The Mets are the only team that Alonso has ever known and for whom he has been the face since his NL Rookie of the Year campaign in 2019. He hit .272 for the Amazins in 2025, with 126 RBIs, and 38 home runs.
Given a two-year deal with the team last year, he reminded the front office of why he is one of the most explosive bats in the league. His willingness to move from first base to the DH spot amid concerns about his throwing may be the deciding the factor.
The longer he goes without inking on the dotted line to return to Queens, the more likely he is to sign elsewhere.

Where Might Alex Bregman End Up?

Alex Bregman is the best third baseman available in this year's free agent and there are plenty of teams lining up for his service.
Bowden reported the Tigers, Phillies, Mariners, Yankees, Mets, and Blue Jays are among the contenders interested in adding him while non-contenders Pittsburgh and the Los Angeles Angels are also seeking to add his bat and superb defense to the lineup.
In 114 games in 2025, Bregman hit .273 with 118 hits, 62 RBI and 18 home runs.
Bregman opted out of his contract with Boston in favor of something more long-term and there appear to be plenty of teams lined up to give him that.
The Tigers would seem to have the inside track having met with Bregman last offseason. He would be a significant upgrade over incumbent third basemen Colt Keith and Jace Jung, at least on paper.
The Red Sox are not out of the race but it remains to be seen if they would be willing to offer Bregman the size and length of contract that he can get elsewhere.

Kyle Tucker Visits Toronto Spring Training Complex

The prized free agent of this offseason is outfielder Kyle Tucker and the defending AL champion Toronto Blue Jays are not hesitating in their pursuit of the former All-Star.
Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reported that Tucker "visited with the Blue Jays at their player development complex in Dunedin, Fla., on Wednesday."
The Blue Jays have had a busy offseason already, signing starting pitcher Dylan Cease to a seven-year, $210 million deal.
Adding another high-priced free agent with a market value of 10 years, $401 million is certainly within the realm of possibility for the second-wealthiest MLB ownership groups, and Tucker would be an immediate upgrade at his position for the World Series runner-up.
There will be other teams that host Tucker and try to convince him to join their organizations, but seeing a team who just took the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers to Game 7 of the Fall Classic be so aggressive coming out of the gate is enticing and may be enough to win over a player who has been to the World Series and has a ring to his name.
