Oba Femi Beats Ricky Saints to Win NXT Title at Deadline, What Should Happen Next?

Oba Femi defeated Ricky Saints at NXT Deadline on Saturday to become a two-time NXT champion.

With the win, Femi also earned the right to face WWE champion Cody Rhodes on the undercard of the Dec. 13 Saturday Night's Main Event, which will be headlined by John Cena's retirement match against Gunther.

At No Mercy back in September, Saints shocked the wrestling world when he handed Femi a rare loss, beating him to win the NXT title for the first time since signing with WWE in February.

After that match, Femi was gone from WWE programming for the next several weeks, while Saints rekindled his rivalry with Trick Williams, who sought to become a three-time NXT champ.

Saints beat Trick to retain the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc, but they had a rematch a couple of weeks later on NXT TV, this time with a Last Man Standing stipulation.

After Saints barely prevailed in a bout that saw both him and Williams absorb a ton of punishment, Femi made his surprise return to WWE programming by confronting Saints.

In the weeks that followed, Femi made his intentions clear, as he stated his desire to win back the title he had previously held for 262 days consecutively.

Saints vs. Femi was made official for Deadline, forcing Saints into a situation where he had to prove that his initial victory over Oba wasn't a fluke.

However, Femi was the better man in the rematch, thus re-establishing himself as the unquestioned face of the brand.

Given that Femi and Saints have now beaten each other one time each, they should have a rubber match to settle their rivalry once and for all, assuming Femi beats the winner of the men's Iron Survivor Challenge.

To up the stakes even more, a Loser Leaves NXT stipulation would make sense, as it would provide additional drama and allow the loser of the feud to make the move to the main roster.
