Will Kyle Schwarber Sign Giants Contract? Latest MLB Rumors, Updated Landing Spots

Adam WellsDec 2, 2025

Looking to boost their offensive production in 2026, the San Francisco Giants are keeping an eye on Kyle Schwarber in free agency.

Per MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the Giants are among the teams that have "checked in" on Schwarber leading into the winter meetings next week.

As arguably the best power bat on the market, Schwarber has been very popular since free agency began.

The Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles and Cincinnati Reds are other teams that have shown at least some degree of interest in Schwarber.

San Francisco has been aggressively adding to its lineup over the past 12 months. Willy Adames got a seven-year, $182 million contract in free agency last year. Rafael Devers was acquired in a surprise trade with the Red Sox in June.

Adames became the first Giants player to hit at least 30 homers in a season since Barry Bonds in 2004.

Even with those two additions, the Giants still finished 17th in runs scored and 19th in home runs.

There was an expectation before the end of last season that Schwarber was going to remain in Philadelphia, but the amount of attention he is generating right now at least opens up the possibility another club could surpass what the Phillies feel comfortable offering.

ESPN's Jeff Passan noted last month that Schwarber will likely top out at a contract for five years given his age. He will turn 33 on March 5.

Since his first full MLB season in 2017, Schwarber has hit at least 30 homers seven times. He has 38 or more home runs in each of the past four seasons, including a career-high 56 with the Phillies in 2025.

Schwarber finished second in NL MVP voting last season. He hit .240/.365/.563 in 162 games.
