Percy Harvin Injury: Updates on Bills WR's Hip and Return

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Percy Harvin has battled countless injuries over the past few seasons and can add one more to that list, as he's currently dealing with a sore hip.

However, Buffalo Bills PR announced that he is active for the team's regular-season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.

Harvin was a full participant in the Sept. 10 practice just one day after sitting out, according to ESPN's Mike Rodak.

"They've been blown away with him—his commitment and everything else—in the training room," coach Rex Ryan said on Aug. 25, per Rodak. "So he's right on track." 

On Aug. 18, Ryan said that Harvin's hip was worse than the team originally thought and required a pain injection, per Rodak.

Harvin has been banged up beyond belief since entering the league in 2009. To date, he's battled recurring migraines as well as shoulder, ankle, hip and rib injuries.

The most severe injury came prior to the 2013 season, when the 5'11", 184-pound speedster suffered a labrum tear in his hip that forced him to miss 15 games.

In the previous season, Harvin underwent surgery for a complete ligament tear in his ankle after he had already missed two games due to a shoulder injury.

Despite that lengthy injury history, the Bills decided to take a flier on the playmaker by signing him to a one-year, $6 million deal, according to Spotrac. Given the misfortune Harvin's experienced on the medical front throughout his career, granting him a short-term deal was evidently a prudent move by the Bills.
