Fresh Backstage WWE Rumors 👊

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
WrestleMania 42 is still months away, but Survivor Series may have tipped WWE's hands as to its plans for the two men's world title belts in April.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (via WrestleTalk) reported Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns and CM Punk vs. Bron Breakker are earmarked for WrestleMania at this stage.
Given what happened at Survivor Series, the smart money is on a rubber match between Rhodes and Reigns. They were on the losing side in the main event, and a post-match interaction hinted at unfinished business.
Breakker, meanwhile, looked like one of the most logical challengers for the World Heavyweight Championship the moment Seth Rollins underwent shoulder surgery. Having him pin Punk at Survivor Series did nothing to dispel that notion.
A lot can change between now and next spring. There have been plenty of years when big WrestleMania matches looked telegraphed months in advance, only for WWE to pivot in another direction.
For now, Meltzer's report represents the conventional wisdom.
Morgan Returned Well Ahead of Schedule at Survivor Series
Liv Morgan sprang one of the biggest surprises at Survivor Series when she interfered in the Intercontinental Championship match between John Cena and Dominik Mysterio.
According to PWInsider (via Wrestle Ops), WWE initially wasn't expecting to have Morgan back until 2026 after she dislocated her shoulder in the summer. Her rehab progressed quickly and opened the door for her to return on Saturday night.
Having the two-time women's champion back in the fold could have implications beyond Mysterio's IC title reign. Her injury forced her to step aside and let Roxanne Perez represent The Judgment Day alongside Raquel Rodriguez as the women's tag champs.
Since she never lost the tag belts, Morgan may want another crack at them in the near future.
Jericho Presented with 'Retirement Storyline'
Chris Jericho isn't yet a full free agent, yet the impending expiration of his contract with AEW has put multiple promotions on alert.
Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via Steve Carrier of Ringside News) that WWE has gone so far as to lay out a retirement angle for Jericho.
The 55-year-old still possesses plenty of charisma, but he's clearly not the same in-ring technician he once was. His last match with AEW was back in April on the Dynasty pay-per-view.
Jericho's star power has receded somewhat as well. A lot of fans tuning in now aren't familiar with his earlier work with WWE and even fewer watched him in WCW.
Whether he signs with WWE or AEW, a retirement storyline would be a great way to use Jericho, though.
Putting a timeline on the remainder of his career, whether real or implied, would add another layer to his appearances moving forward. John Cena's WWE swan song has left a lot of fans wanting more, but there's no question his limited schedule makes it feel more important whenever he shows up.
Jericho, who has had multiple reinventions of his on-screen persona, could be trusted to develop a character who meets the moment.
