Dan Campbell Discusses How Lions Have Dug 'A Little Bit of a Hole' After Packers Loss

Andrew PetersNov 27, 2025

After the Detroit Lions' loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving, head coach Dan Campbell admitted that the team is facing an uphill battle in its quest for a third consecutive division title.

The Lions fell to 7-5 on the season with their 31-24 loss to the Packers. They're third in the NFC North standings behind Green Bay and the Chicago Bears.

"Like I told the team, 'It's frustrating, I know. We've got a lot to be thankful for even after a loss.' And look, we've dug ourselves a little bit of a hole, that's the bottom line," Campbell told reporters after the game. "We are in a little bit of a hole, but that's just what it is. There's nothing more than that.

"So all we've got to do is worry about cleaning up this and then getting to the next game and finding a way to win the next one in front of us."

Detroit played well on offense as Jared Goff threw for 256 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 20-of-26 passing. Jameson Williams stepped up with Amon-Ra St. Brown out, collecting 144 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The offensive production couldn't make up for defensive woes as Packers' quarterback Jordan Love threw for four touchdowns.

The Lions are still very much alive in the playoff race even though they're chances of winning a division title are now slim. Detroit has a tough schedule to close out the season, facing the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears in the coming weeks.

After going 3-4 over their last seven games, the Lions can't afford many errors during their final stretch.
