Chicago Zoo Names Penguin Chick After Bears' Legendary WR

The Chicago Zoo has named an African penguin chick "Waddle," in honor of former Chicago Bears wideout and radio host Tom Waddle, according to Andy Koval of WGN 9.

Waddle beat out potential names like Pebble, Uno" and Bean in a fan vote held by the Zoo.

The 58-year-old Waddle spent six seasons as a wideout for the Bears (1989-94), registering 173 catches for 2,109 yards and nine touchdowns in his career. He also served as an occasional punt returner for the team.

He has remained in the Chicago sporting world as the host of the Waddle & Silvy on ESPN 1000.
