What is the Extent of Chris Olave's Injury After Saints WR Leaves Practice Early?

Andrew PetersNov 26, 2025

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave is dealing with an injury heading into Sunday's matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

Per NewOrleans.Football's Mike Triplett, Olave exited Wednesday's practice early, and head coach Kellen Moore announced that he is limited with a back injury.

Triplett also noted that Moore said Olave had not been dealing with the back issue before practice, adding that it "seems like an issue that crept up during practice."

After missing nine games last year because of multiple concussions, Olave has managed to play all 11 games for the Saints this year. The No. 11 pick in the 2022 NFL draft has had a solid season, recording 69 receptions for 734 yards and four touchdowns despite playing on a lackluster Saints offense.

New Orleans' wide receiver group has been decimated by injuries this year, and Olave's potential absence would only add to that. Trey Palmer is currently on the injured list because of an ankle injury, while Ja'Lynn Polk is out for the year because of a preseason shoulder injury. Bub Means also suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the preseason.

If Olave were to miss Sunday's game, the Saints would be limited to Devaughn Vele, Mason Tipton Jr., and Kevin Austin Jr. Vele has recorded just nine receptions, Tipton has just three and Austin has not recorded a catch and has appeared in just two games.

Olave isn't the only key member of the Saints' offense dealing with an injury this week. Running back Alvin Kamara didn't practice on Wednesday after suffering a knee injury against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. His status is still in question for this week's matchup.

Kamara's backup, Devin Neal, is also currently questionable because of an ankle injury. Audric Estime, who has appeared in just one game this year, would presumably get most of the touches in the backfield if Kamara and Neal are out.

The Saints' playoff dreams are already crushed at 2-9, but they're hoping to salvage the rest of the season, and having Olave on the field would help them do so.
