Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb Says He Has to 'Catch the F--king Ball' After Drops vs. Eagles

Timothy RappNov 25, 2025

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb offered a blunt assessment of his play and conversations with Dak Prescott after dropping three passes on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, including one that would have been a touchdown.

"Just find ways to get better," he told reporters. "You want to be solution oriented. You're not really dwelling much on the problem. Granted, we know the problem, I need to catch the f--king ball."

Lamb now has eight drops on his season. According to ESPN Research, that is the most from a Cowboys wideout since Dez Bryant's nine drops in 2012. It certainly isn't what anybody expected from the four-time Pro Bowler and 2023 first-team All-Pro selection, including himself.

"It's really just lack of focus on my end, honestly," Lamb told reporters. "Just thinking doing two before one. There's been plenty of that going on, and by that, I'm thinking about my next move before catching the ball and things of that nature. It's not really much on anybody else but myself, and I've never been one to point the finger, but yeah, it's all on me, and I got to handle that."

The Cowboys don't seem too worried about the situation. Quarterback Dak Prescott told reporters he expects Lamb to respond with a "huge game" against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving.

"Just go back and look at the career. Any game that maybe he's not [played] to his standard or had a drop here or it's been a frustrating game, the way he's responded has been unquestionable," he added. "I know earlier this year it was the same way. From the first time we played [at Philadelphia] to his next game, I don't expect this to be any different."

Lamb also had three drops in a Week 1 loss to the Eagles. He responded with nine catches for 112 yards in a Week 2 victory over the New York Giants.

For the season, the 26-year-old has reeled in 44 catches for 632 yards and two touchdowns in eight games. His counterpart, George Pickens, has been a revelation, with 67 receptions for 1,054 yards and eight touchdowns across 11 contests.

That pair are hoping to play the 5-5-1 Cowboys back into the playoff picture. The team is currently 10th in the NFC, trailing the San Francisco 49ers (8-4) for the final Wild Card berth while the Detroit Lions (7-4) and Carolina Panthers (6-6) are also currently ahead of them in the standings.

That makes Thursday's matchup against the 6-5 Chiefs, themselves fighting for their playoff lives, vitally important. Beating Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and the Chiefs will be a more realistic task if Lamb is able to hold onto the ball.
