What Is Isiah Pacheco's Injury Status for Chiefs vs. Cowboys on Thanksgiving?

Andrew PetersNov 25, 2025

After missing the last three games with a knee injury, Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco could be back on the field for this week's contest.

Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Pacheco is eyeing a return to action for Thursday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Fowler added that Pacheco is "trending positively," but it will ultimately be the team's decision.

Pacheco suffered a sprained MCL in Kansas City's Week 8 win over the Washington Commanders and has been sidelined ever since.

Pacheco, a former seventh-round pick now in his fourth season, has recorded 329 yards and a touchdown on 78 carries this year. He's coming off an injury-riddled 2024 campaign in which he missed 10 games because of a fractured fibula.

In Pacheco's absence, the Chiefs' ground game has run primarily through veteran Kareem Hunt. The ninth-year running back has logged 457 yards and seven touchdowns on 116 carries through 11 games. He's coming off a game in which he picked up a season-high 109 yards and a touchdown on 116 carries in an overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Kansas City also added to its backfield after Sunday's game, signing Dameon Pierce after the running back was released by the Houston Texans. Pierce hasn't done much so far this season, but could end up getting some snaps on Thursday if Pacheco is unable to suit up.

The Chiefs kept their playoff hopes alive with Sunday's win over the Colts, but still have work to do to secure a postseason bid. The Cowboys are in a similar position, trying to make a playoff push, so the Thanksgiving Day contest will be high stakes.
