Jaxon Smith-Njigba Breaks Seahawks Receiving Record During Epic Game vs. Titans

Doric SamNov 23, 2025

Seattle Seahawks star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba's outstanding game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday put him in the history books.

With eight catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns through the first three quarters, Smith-Njigba broke DK Metcalf's single-season franchise record of 1,303 yards set in 2020. Even more impressively, he did so in just the 11th game of the season.

Smith-Njigba has blossomed since the arrival of quarterback Sam Darnold, who signed with the Seahawks over the offseason and helped lead the team to a 7-3 start.

In Sunday's game against the Titans, Darnold and Smith-Njigba put their connection on display early with a 63-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Smith-Njigba could have chance to break the NFL single-season receiving record of 1,964 yards set by Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson in 2012.

The Seahawks appear to be one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the NFC this year, and Smith-Njigba's emergence as one of the top receivers in the league is a big reason why.
