JJ Watt Reacts to TJ Breaking Career Sack Record, Jokes About Return to NFL

Scott PolacekNov 23, 2025

Welcome to the history books, T.J. Watt.

Well, the family history books at least.

The Pittsburgh Steelers pass-rusher notched the 115th sack of his illustrious career during Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, which passed his brother J.J.'s career mark of 114.5. The older brother had some fun with the moment and said he was going to come out of retirement to reclaim the family high:

T.J. Watt didn't just surpass his brother. He did it in style by sacking Caleb Williams in the end zone and forcing a fumble that Pittsburgh recovered for a go-ahead touchdown in the first half.

At some point, the Watt brothers are going to be in Canton, Ohio, together as Hall of Famers.

J.J. Watt was a three-time Defensive Player of the Year and five-time First-Team All-Pro selection who notched double-digit sack totals in six different seasons. He was arguably the best player in the entire league from 2012 through 2015 when he was the DPOY three times and averaged 17.3 sacks per season.

As for T.J. Watt, he has one Defensive Player of the Year and four First-Team All-Pro selections on his resume. He has six seasons with double-digit sacks, including when he led the league in 2020, 2021 and 2023.

They are both generational talents who anchored defensive lines for years.

But only T.J. has family bragging rights when it comes to career sacks.
