Browns Legend Bernie Kosar Shares Positive Update After Liver Transplant
Cleveland Browns legend Bernie Kosar gave fans a positive update on Monday after receiving a liver transplant last week as he's been discharged from the hospital.
"Hey, I'm out and I'm feeling good," Kosar said on Nov. 17. "I'm ready to enjoy the rest of the week and the rest of our lives. You matter."
Kosar announced in 2024 that he had been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver and would need a transplant. He also revealed that he has Parkinson's disease. Last week, he underwent two "aggressive procedures" for internal bleeding ahead of his liver transplant.
Kosar, a Youngstown, Ohio, native, won a national championship at the University of Miami before joining the Browns in 1985. He spent nine seasons in Cleveland, earning a Pro Bowl nod in 1987 and leading the team to three AFC Championship appearances. The Browns' AFC Championship game appearance in 1989 was their most recent.
After his time with the Browns, he spent a year with the Dallas Cowboys and concluded his career by spending three seasons with the Miami Dolphins. He finished his 12-year career with 23,301 passing yards and 124 touchdowns.
While Kosar had stops in Dallas and Miami before calling it a career, he remains a Browns legend and is beloved by fans.
