Cardinals' Jacoby Brissett Sets NFL Record for Completions, Whose Record Did He Break?
Jacoby Brissett made NFL history on Sunday.
The Arizona Cardinals quarterback, who is filling in for the injured Kyler Murray, completed 47 of his 57 pass attempts, setting a new record for completions in a single game. Drew Bledsoe had 45 completions in 1994, and Jared Goff had the same mark in 2019.

Biggest Questions Surrounding 2026 NFL Season After the Draft 🤔
After the game, Brissett downplayed the record:
Brissett had 452 passing yards and two touchdowns to go along with just 47 completions, but he also had a pair of interceptions in the 41-22 loss to the Niners. His 452 passing yards mark a new career high for the 10th-year player.
Brissett, a third-round pick in 2016, spent his rookie season with the New England Patriots before playing for the Indianapolis Colts from 2017 to 2020, spending two seasons as the team's starter.
Since then, he's bounced from team to team, playing for the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Washington Commanders and Patriots in the last four seasons. He signed with the Cardinals this offseason as Arizona eyed a backup for Murray.
Brissett took over as the starter in October with Murray dealing with a foot injury, and he's made the most of the opportunity. Throwing for 1,570 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in six games, though the Cardinals have gone 1-4 with Brissett under center.
Brissett is hoping to prove he's capable of being a regular starter, and a performance like Sunday's helps his case. He'll have at least two more games as Arizona's starter since Murray is currently on the injured reserve.
