Travis Kelce Makes Chiefs History, Breaks Priest Holmes' Record for Most Career TDs

Travis Kelce has already established his position as a Kansas City Chiefs franchise legend, but he improved his standing on Sunday.

Kelce's touchdown in the fourth quarter of Sunday's contest against the Denver Broncos broke Priest Holmes' record for the most career touchdowns in Chiefs franchise history.

After the Chiefs lost on a last-second field goal, Kelce downplayed the record:

Kelce has been with the Chiefs for more than a decade, so he's had plenty of time to break franchise records. He has the most receptions, receiving yards and now the most touchdowns in team history.

After Kelce tied Holmes' record in October, Patrick Mahomes, who has helped him with most of his touchdowns, called Kelce the "Chiefs' Chief."

"He's the true Chiefs' Chief," Mahomes said. "He is the guy that has been here through the whole thing. Been here with (head) coach (Andy) Reid the entire time. He has helped set the culture, you know? He helped set the culture of what it means to play for Coach Reid and to play in Kansas City and I was able to come in and then have that guy to rely on. He's breaking all the records now and he's all about the team, so I want to make sure that he gets that and hopefully we can get another football for him later in the season after he actually breaks the record (most in Chiefs history)."

Not only is Kelce one of the most accomplished players in Chiefs history, he's one of the best tight ends of all time as well. He's third on the all-time receiving yards list for tight ends and has the fifth-most touchdowns by a tight end.

There has been plenty of speculation about whether the 36-year-old Kelce might hang it up after this year, but he downplayed retirement rumors before the season.

For now, he'll look to continue adding to his lengthy resume.
