J.J. McCarthy's Struggles Concern NFL Fans as Vikings Lose to Caleb Williams, Bears

J.J. McCarthy fought hard in the fourth quarter against the Chicago Bears, but the Minnesota Vikings fell short in a 19-17 loss that was clinched by a Cairo Santos game-winning field goal.

McCarthy led the Vikings on two scoring drives in the fourth quarter, but that was a small bright spot in otherwise off day for the Minnesota quarterback.

McCarthy completed 50 percent of his passes and threw a pair of interceptions.

To McCarthy's credit, he rallied from a poor day to give the Vikings a shot at the victory.

McCarthy thought he threw the game-winning touchdown pass to Jordan Addison with less than a minute left.

A 56-yard kickoff return from Devin Duvernay set the Bears up in field-goal range for Santos' game-winning 48-yard field goal.

The loss was the fourth in Minnesota's last five games and it dropped the Vikings to 4-6. They are 2.5 games back of the Bears in the NFC North and only have three divisional games left to make up some ground.

One of those remaining NFC North games takes place in Week 12, when the Vikings visit the Green Bay Packers.
