What Is Aaron Rodgers' Timeline for Return from Injury? Latest Rumors on QB's Status

Andrew PetersNov 18, 2025

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers reportedly won't need surgery after fracturing his left wrist during Sunday's win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Rodgers and the Steelers received the positive news after undergoing tests Monday. Pelissero added that Rodgers is "pushing to play" against the Chicago Bears in Sunday's Week 12 game, but he must be cleared by doctors in order to do so.

Despite being the oldest player in the league and in his 21st season, Rodgers has managed to stay durable since returning from a torn Achilles that cost him the 2023 season.

He played all 17 games with the New York Jets in 2024 and hasn't missed a game so far this season with Pittsburgh.

Rodgers' injury luck came to an end against the Bengals, as he exited the game during the second quarter and was replaced by Mason Rudolph the rest of the way. The Steelers still managed to win 34-12.

Rodgers has largely performed well during his first season in Pittsburgh, completing 66.4 percent of his passes for 1,969 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions through 10 games.

The Steelers were off to a 4-1 start and appeared to be playoff contenders through the early going, but a rocky stretch in October and November tempered their postseason hopes. Pittsburgh has won two of its past three games, though, and it remains atop the AFC North at 6-4.

The Steelers will presumably turn to Rudolph under center if Rodgers is unable to suit up against the Bears. Rudolph was drafted by the Steelers in 2018 but spent the 2024 campaign with the Tennessee Titans, throwing for 1,530 yards, nine touchdowns and nine interceptions in eight games.

He's appeared in three contests for the Steelers this year, throwing for 139 yards, one touchdowns and no interceptions.
