What is Josh Jacobs' Injury Status After Exiting Packers vs. Giants?

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs received good news on Monday, as he will not need surgery after suffering a knee injury against the New York Giants on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.

Jacobs reportedly could miss Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, however, as he is day-to-day.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky (h/t Adam Schefter) had reported on Sunday that the star running back's knee injury was not believed to be season-ending.

Jacobs exited in the first half of Sunday's win over the Giants with a knee injury, and the Packers announced he was ruled out for the remainder in the second half.

Jacobs had seven carries for 40 yards prior to leaving with the injury.

Green Bay went on to win 27-20 to improve to 6-3-1.

It wasn't the only concern for the visitors, as quarterback Jordan Love also temporarily left the contest before he returned. Malik Willis entered the game for Love and went 2-of-2 passing for a touchdown, but Love eventually returned.

As for Jacobs, a long-term injury would be a massive development for Green Bay.

He entered play with 608 rushing yards, 237 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on the campaign. He seemed to be well on his way to a second straight season with more than 1,000 rushing yards after he posted 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground in his first year with the Packers in 2024.

Green Bay will likely rely more on Emanuel Wilson at running back if Jacobs is sidelined for longer than just Sunday's contest.

Wilson scored a go-ahead touchdown in the second quarter for the Packers, which was a welcome development for the NFC North team. It might need much more of that moving forward if Jacobs misses additional time.
