USWNT's Mallory Swanson, Cubs' Dansby Swanson Announce Birth of Daughter in Photo

Chicago Red Stars and USWNT forward Mallory Swanson and Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson announced the birth of their first daughter, Josie James Swanson, in a Friday post on Instagram.

The Swansons have been married since 2022. The couple announced Mallory's pregnancy in a May Instagram post captioned, "Our greatest blessing."

Mallory, who has played for the USWNT since 2016, was traded to the Red Stars in 2021. Three years later, she set a NWSL record when she signed a deal reportedly worth around $2 million to stay with the team through 2028.

Later that year, she scored the gold medal-clinching goal for the national team during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

She has been absent from both the Red Stars and the USWNT this season amid her maternity leave.

Dansby is meanwhile signed in Chicago through the 2029 MLB season thanks to the seven-year deal he agreed to with the Cubs ahead of the 2023 campaign. He earned an All-Star nod and Golden Glove Award during his first season with the franchise.

He most recently slashed .244/.300/.417 with 24 home runs and 77 RBI during his third campaign with the Cubs in 2025.
