What is the Timeline for J.K Dobbins' Return From Injury? Top Waiver Wire Replacements

Zach BacharNov 15, 2025

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins could be done for the year.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Dobbins will be placed on injured reserve and undergo foot surgery that is likely to end his season. Schefter added that Dobbins "will be ready in February if the Broncos make the Super Bowl."

Dobbins posted Saturday:

The 26-year-old suffered the injury during Denver's Week 10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders and didn't participate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday.

Dobbins is in the midst of his first season with the Broncos, handling the majority of carries in their backfield.

He picked up 772 yards and four touchdowns on 153 attempts, averaging 5.0 yards per carry.

For fantasy football managers, Dobbins' upcoming absence could cause him to miss the start of the fantasy playoffs. Until he's able to return, managers should look to make an addition on the waiver wire.

One candidate is Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier. While Allgeier is firmly behind Bijan Robinson on Atlanta's depth chart, his usage near the end zone makes him an intriguing option.

Allgeier has recorded six touchdowns this year, with five scores coming over his past six games. He also picked up 57 yards on 11 carries during Atlanta's 31-25 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10.

He's available in 59 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues and 67 percent of ESPN leagues, via FantasyPros.

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears is another backup option that could be brought in as a fantasy starter. Spears has only rushed for 152 yards and one touchdown this season, but his involvement in Tennessee's passing attack makes him valuable in PPR leagues.

Spears has caught at least three passes in each of his past four games. He's available in 63 percent of both Yahoo and ESPN leagues, via FantasyPros.

A short-term fantasy option for managers is Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado, who has stepped up in the absence of Trey Benson. Despite splitting carries with Bam Knight, Demercado has still rushed for 225 yards on just 22 attempts over his past four games.

Given his impressive average of 10.2 yards per carry over that stretch, he could be in line to receive more touches.
