Drake Maye Called NFL's 'Best Player' by Patriots' Will Campbell After Win vs. Jets
New England Patriots left tackle Will Campbell acknowledged his own bias, but that's not stopping him from putting Drake Maye atop his list of the NFL's top players right now.
Following New England's 27-14 win over the New York Jets on Thursday night, Campbell told reporters that Maye is the "best player" in the league.
"He's playing at an elite level right now," Campbell said. "I'm biased, but I think he's the best player in the NFL. There's no game that we're out of when we have him."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Patriots quarterback-tackle battery seem to have built a good rapport with each other. Campbell even acknowledged the Drake "Drake Maye" Maye phenomenon when he interrupted the second-year quarterback's press conference.
Head coach Mike Vrabel was more measured in his analysis of Maye's play, but he at least seems encouraged by how the 23-year-old has performed this season:
"I would say his performance, in general, has been what we expect. We have high expectations for Drake. He has high expectations for himself. He'll continue to improve. I know that he'll stay humble through this all. ... We just have to continue to focus on the little things, operation, unforced errors throughout the offense. The only thing that really stops us is us offensively."
Even though longevity works against Maye when building a list of the league's best players, it's hard to argue anyone is playing the quarterback position better than he has in 2025.
Maye finished 25-of-34 for 281 yards with one touchdown against the Jets. He ranks in the top four of all quarterbacks in passing yards (2,869), passing touchdowns (20), completion percentage (71.9), yards per attempt (8.9) and QBR (74.1).
Looking beyond the traditional stats, Maye has been unbelievable in terms of downfield success. He's 21-of-34 for 682 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions on passes of at least 20 yards.
Patriots fans are appreciative of what they have seen from Maye. He received MVP chants from the crowd at Gillette Stadium as he was running off the field on Thursday night.
It's hard to think of a better MVP candidate in the league right now. Maye's statistical performance combined with the Patriots' success gives him as strong a resume as anyone.
The Patriots have now won eight straight games, their longest streak since starting the 2019 season 8-0. They currently own the best record in the entire NFL.
Maye's upward trajectory could continue next week with a favorable matchup against a leaky Cincinnati Bengals defense.
