What is the Timeline for Garrett Wilson's Return After Jets WR's Knee Injury?

The New York Jets will reportedly be without their top wide receiver for approximately a month.

ESPN's Rich Cimini reported Monday that Garrett Wilson suffered a knee sprain in Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns and will be out for at least three to four weeks. However, there was a silver lining, as Wilson will not need surgery.

It has surely been a frustrating season for Wilson, who missed New York's previous two games with a knee injury before his return against Cleveland.

As a result, the Ohio State product is on pace to finish with fewer than 1,000 receiving yards in a season for the first time since he entered the league as the No. 10 overall pick of the 2022 NFL draft. 

He has 36 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns in seven games and was held without a catch against the Browns before exiting with the setback.

While the Jets traded notable players in Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams ahead of the deadline, they decided to keep Wilson despite their struggles this season. After all, the 25-year-old receiver is under contract through 2030 and figures to be a franchise building block for the foreseeable future.

New York also has plenty of draft picks in the next two years following the trade, so the front office will have the opportunity to build a contender around him with the right moves.

As for the immediate future, this is another blow for an aerial attack that was already missing Josh Reynolds. That means the combination of Adonai Mitchell, Arian Smith, Tyler Johnson, Isaiah Williams and John Metchie III will likely see more playing time.

Mitchell was acquired from the Indianapolis Colts in the deal that sent Gardner to the AFC South team.
