Red Sox Linked to Freddy Peralta as Possible Trade Landing Spot by MLB Insider

Milwaukee Brewers ace Freddy Peralta is expected to be a potential trade candidate this offseason, and one insider feels he would benefit from a move to the East Coast.

MLB Network's Jon Morosi named the Boston Red Sox as a potential landing spot for Peralta if he's traded this winter.

Morosi noted that the Brewers have shown a propensity to listen to offers on their top pitchers to avoid losing them for nothing, as evidenced by their trades of starter Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles and reliever Devin Williams to the New York Yankees in recent years.

The Red Sox went 89-73 this season and snapped a three-year postseason drought before losing to the New York Yankees in the American League Wild Card Series. Boston opened the series with a win following a strong performance by starting pitcher Garrett Crochet before surrendering a combined eight games in its next two losses.

While Crochet proved to be a reliable starter at the top of the rotation, the Red Sox are still expected to explore the market for another ace. Morosi noted that they've "got an excellent farm system" and potential trade pieces in outfielders Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu.

Peralta is a two-time All-Star and put together one of the best seasons of his eight-year career, leading the National League in wins with a 17-6 record while recording a career-best 2.70 ERA with 204 strikeouts in 176.2 innings pitched.

Peralta will undoubtedly have a long list of suitors if the Brewers make him available for a trade, so the Red Sox could have some competition as they look to improve their starting rotation.
