Keenan Allen Reveals He Told Jim Harbaugh Which Play to Call to Make Chargers History
Los Angeles Chargers receiver Keenan Allen broke Antonio Gates' team record for career receptions on Sunday night, and did so on a little pop pass in the fourth quarter.
It turns out that the play call was Allen's idea after head coach Jim Harbaugh told him they were trying to get him the record.
"Just run the speed sweep, that's the easiest catch I can get," Allen said he told Harbaugh, per ESPN's Kris Rhim. "It's like a guaranteed catch."

Getting him the record on Sunday night allowed him to do so in front of the team's fans at SoFi Stadium. The Chargers will be on the road next week against the Jacksonville Jaguars before a Week 12 bye.
He also became the first receiver in franchise history to eclipse 10,000 receiving yards back in 2023, and both that and Sunday's franchise record for receptions (956) were meaningful achievements.
"Those are milestones that not a lot of people reach," he said. "Even the greats."
