Coach Likens Commanders to Rex Ryan's Jets, 'Then You Fall Off the Face of the Earth'
After an impressive run to the NFC Championship Game last season, the Washington Commanders appear to be set to miss the playoffs this year after falling to 3-7 with Sunday's 44-22 loss to the Detroit Lions.
A coach from another NFC team had an interesting comparison for the Commanders while speaking to The Athletic's Mike Sando, likening them to the New York Jets under former head coach Rex Ryan over a decade ago.
"You go into Year 1 and acquire a lot of free agents," the coach said. "It reminds me of Rex Ryan with the Jets. 'Let's get L.T. (LaDainian Tomlinson), let's get (Antonio) Cromartie, let's get Bart Scott.' Boom, contenders, championship game. Then you fall off the face of the earth."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Jets made it to the AFC Championship Game in each of Ryan's first two seasons at the helm. Unfortunately, that level of success proved unsustainable, and the team went 8-8, 6-10, 8-8 and 4-12 in the subsequent years under Ryan before he was fired following the 2014 season.
The Commanders had their losing streak extended to five straight games with Sunday's loss, which marked the second time that they surrendered over 40 points this year.
Washington is missing star quarterback Jayden Daniels, who is out indefinitely after suffering a dislocated elbow.
It's going to take a lot to turn things around for the Commanders, but it doesn't look like a trip to the postseason is in the cards.
Washington will try to end its skid when it faces the Miami Dolphins (3-7) in Madrid, Spain, in Week 11.
