Jaelan Phillips Calls Eagles Trade The 'Greatest Thing That's Happened to Me'
After four and a half seasons with the Miami Dolphins, linebacker Jaelan Phillips was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
Phillips is thrilled about the move.
"I thought I was excited Day 1, talk to me now," Phillips said. "This is literally the greatest thing that's happened to me in my whole life, probably. It's just awesome. The guys are awesome, everybody's been super welcoming. I love the environment here, I love the vibe here. The city of Philly's given me a very warm welcome."

Ranking Every Offense Post NFL Draft 🔢
The Eagles sent a 2026 third-round draft pick to Miami in return for Phillips, who reportedly received interest from the San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots and others.
The trade for Phillips capped off a busy season of deals for Philadelphia.
Phillips, a former first-round pick in 2021, recorded 15.5 sacks through his first two seasons, but has battled injuries in recent seasons, playing just 12 games between the 2023 and 2024 campaigns.
He's stayed healthy this season, logging 25 tackles and three sacks in nine games for the Dolphins. He's recorded at least half a sack in three of his last four games.
Though the Eagles are 6-2 and are in control of the NFC East, there were a few areas to address at the deadline, and their pass rushing was one of the points of emphasis. Philadelphia ranks in the bottom 10 in sacks in the NFL, and Phillips should give the defensive line a significant boost.
The trade is a win for the Eagles, and should be considered a win for Phillips as well.
While he's been a part of some solid teams in Miami, he has yet to make a deep playoff run. Now with Philadelphia, the defending champs, he has the chance to compete for his first Super Bowl.
The prospect of winning the Lombardi Trophy should give him plenty of motivation heading into the second half of the season with his new team.
