Rashid Shaheed Plans to Sign Seahawks Contract Extension in Offseason, 'Here to Stay'

Paul KasabianNov 5, 2025

The Seattle Seahawks just added an exciting and explosive playmaker in ex-New Orleans wide receiver Rashid Shaheed via trade, but as of now, he's only in town for half a season now with his contract expiring after 2025.

However, Shaheed believes Seattle will be his "long-term home," telling reporters at his introductory press conference on Wednesday that he's "here to stay," per Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune.

Shaheed has been very productive for the Saints despite the team's profound offensive struggles (15.3 points per game, which is second-last in the NFL). He was second on the team in receptions (44), receiving yards (499) and touchdowns (two).

Now Shaheed has gone from last on the 1-8 Saints to first on the 6-2 Seahawks.

Seattle has a bona fide superstar leading the wideout room in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but Shaheed should get his fair share of looks and could very well emerge as the team's WR2. At the very least, he's a tremendous deep threat and could be a huge addition to the team.

We'll see if Shaheed stays around long-term down the road, but for now, he should play an integral part on an offense that's already fifth in scoring per game (28.9 PPG). His first game in Seattle will take place on Sunday at home against the Arizona Cardinals.
