Drew Brees Reportedly Agrees to Contract as NFL Game Analyst for Fox Sports

Doric SamNov 5, 2025

Legendary former NFL quarterback Drew Brees is reportedly coming back to the game in a new role.

According to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand, Brees has agreed to a contract to join Fox Sports as a full-time NFL game analyst, joining Tom Brady and Greg Olsen as the network's top three in-game analysts for Fox NFL Sunday.

Marchand reported that sources said Brees will begin his Fox career a week from Sunday, though his first game assignment is not yet known. His deal with the network is reportedly expected to be for multiple years, as he's signed to call games for the rest of the 2025 season and through at least next season, as well.

After retiring from the NFL in 2020, Brees tried his hand at broadcasting, but he lasted only one season at NBC. Marchand noted that despite his brief dalliance in the studio, the Pro Football Hall of Famer "has often said he thinks he can be one of the best game analysts in the business." Fox reportedly had pursued Brees since his departure from NBC, even before the network signed Brady to a 10-year, $375 million contract.

Brees has since worked studio shows for Fox and ESPN, and he was on the call for the international feed of Netflix's Christmas Day NFL game. He was promoted to the domestic broadcast for this Christmas.

Sources told Marchand that Brees is expected to be teamed with play-by-play announcer Adam Amin.

While Brady is locked into his spot as Fox's No. 1 game analyst, Marchand suggested that the position is constantly in flux, so Brees and Olsen could make a push to supplant him. It was also noted that future Hall of Famer J.J. Watt, who is in his first season as a game analyst for CBS as part of its No. 2 team with Ian Eagle, has "designs on potentially becoming a No. 1 game analyst," so Fox could have a slew of options at its hand soon.
