How NFL Trade Deadline Moves Affect Rashid Shaheed, Meyers, More in Fantasy Football

Timothy RappNov 4, 2025

The NFL trade deadline was surprisingly robust on Tuesday, with the New York Jets trading star corner Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys.

In terms of moves that will have relevance for fantasy football enthusiasts, however, it wasn't quite so impactful.

Rashid Shaheed is an obvious beneficiary, upgrading from Tyler Shough and the New Orleans Saints to Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks. Obviously Jaxon Smith-Njigba will remain the top target in Seattle and one of the most valuable fantasy options, period, but Shaheed should instantly operate as the team's field-stretching threat.

Darnold is also a player who may sneak into low-end QB1 consideration now. He's notched 20 or more fantasy points in three of his last four games and is adding a deep threat to put pressure on defenses. He's a sneaky add this week if you need help at quarterback.

Chris Olave, meanwhile, is the only truly reliable weapon in New Orleans' passing game. His situation is a rough one, stuck on a terrible offense, but expect him to continue to be fed targets. With little competition in that regard, he should be a very solid WR2 option.

Jakobi Meyers perhaps gets a short-term bump now that he's with the Jacksonville Jaguars, especially with Travis Hunter on injured reserve and Brian Thomas Jr. struggling to make the expected impact. If the Jags put Meyers in the slot, he could have a nice impact for the team, though if Jacksonville keeps Parker Washington in that role Meyers may not be quite as productive.

That makes the situation one to monitor.

Tre Tucker is the most likely beneficiary in Las Vegas now that Meyers is gone, though that passing offense will still run through tight end Brock Bowers. But Tucker has been a sneaky flex option all season, and he should be an even more reliable option with Meyers departing.

But the biggest winner of Tuesday's wild trade deadline is any players who still have the Jets' D/ST on the schedule. That unit was already pretty friendly to opposing quarterbacks and running backs, and now they ditched their best cornerback and one of the most disruptive interior defenders in the NFL.

Drake Maye, for instance, still gets to play the Jets twice. That may make Maye, legitimately, the biggest fantasy winner of this year's trade deadline.
